Abadox (NES)

Abadox: The Deadly Inner War was developed by Natsume and published by Milton Bradley in 1990. The game is a shooter with levels alternating between horizontally scrolling and vertical scrolling. The vertical scrolling levels place the player at the top of the screen with enemies coming from below which is rare for a vertical shooter. 

 

The player assumes the role of Second Lieutenant Nazal who enters Parasitis, a huge alien creature that has engulfed the world of Abadox. The goal is to save the princess trapped inside. 

 

Like most shooters at the time a collision or single shot will kill Nazal, and there are powerups to increase your speed and change your weapons.

 

The game features 6 stages, each (except for stage 4) with a boss battle.
