Game Story In the year 5012, a cytoplasmic entity is sighted in your galaxy. This creature is called Parasitis, and it is a shapeless mass that engulfs those it wishes to consume and then assumes the form of its prey! Parasitis rapidly advances on Abadox, your homeworld, and digests it, assuming its form. The WAF, World Alive Force, launches a full scale assault on the entity from nearby spacestations, but Parasitis destroys and eats all but one soldier, you. You are Second Lieutenant Nazal, who got out of being Parasitis' next meal by a lucky chance,as your ship's energy drive wasn't working properly and you couldn't join the battle. But a hospital ship that was orbiting near the battle wasn't so lucky. Onboard was Princess Maria. Your mission: Fly into Parasitis on your jetpack and make your way to the entity's core, to destroy it! Controls A: Use this button to adjust the radius of your protective shields once you get some. D-pad: Move Nazal. B: Fire weapon. Start: Pause game. Walkthrough Stage 1 I just love the music here! Too bad it's used a little too often. Fly through the level and kill the enemies, while avoiding obstacles. One hit and you're dead. Soon you'll reach the level's Mini-boss, Bau. Miniboss: Bau Easy. Just fire away at him and avoid his attacks. He should be gone in under a minute. Continue on and destroy the monsters and you'll reach the stage boss. Stage 1 Boss: Death Face Simple. Avoid his attacks, keep firing on him and he'll die. Stage 2 The music hear kinda reminds me of Life Force, but it's not quite the same. Just fly around and kill the monsters and you'll reach the Miniboss. Note: Bau and Death Face are the only names listed in the manual, so chances are I won't be naming names from now on until the last boss. Anyway, fire on this disturbing creature to destroy it. Now continue on and you'll soon reach the boss. Stage 2 Boss Once again, just avoid his attacks and keep shooting at him to finish him off. Then it's time for stage 3. Stage 3 This one's got cool music. It's kinda starting to sound a little bit like Life Force. Same routine, fly around and destroy the enemies, collecting any upgrades if you can. Destroy the miniboss in whatever way works for you. Time for the boss. Stage 3 Boss The same rule, avoid attacks while keeping your own coming. It might take a while but you'll win. Now it's on to level 4. Stage 4 What? Level 1 music again? What's up with that? I think it starts to heat up from now on. The enemies get nastier the farther on you go, so be careful. Destroy the miniboss and get ready for the boss. Stage 4 boss Just fire on it and avoid its attacks. On to stage 5. Stage 5 This stage has possibly the best music in the game. I think this one gets nastier as far as enemies, but the miniboss isn't that bad if you learn its pattern. Stage 5 Boss Do I have to say it again. Just be careful not to get hit and to keep hitting him and you'll be fine. Stage 6 Why they included a stage after this is beyond me, but oh well. And couldn't they have come up with some sort of menacing tune to go along with it? I mean, this is basically the last level! Yes, it's the level 1 theme again. Fly around and you'll reach the miniboss. Destroy him however you can and move on. Now it's the last battle. Final Boss: Parasitis Core Different music would have been nice, but oh well. Fire on the core to destroy it. Note: Don't read on unless you want the ending in advance. Ending: After the boss blows up it shows you holding an orb and it takes you into what the instruction manual calls level 7. This is simply you avoiding all the obstacles as you fly toward the exit. The music, or lack thereof, is pretty good. It's simply the sound of your engines as you excelerate. When you escape, you watch from a distance as Parasitis explodes. Then the credits roll. Other Stuff Cheats This isn't a Konami game, but it does feature its own fair share of cheat codes. This section will list these codes. Legend U=Up, D=Down, L=Left, R=Right, A=A and B=B. Be Invincible Press start at the title screen to bypass the intro. Then press: A, A, U, B, B, D, A and B. Press start to begin the game. You will be completely invincible. View Game Ending To see the ending, press start at the title screen, then press: A, A, U, B, B, D, A B, B and Start. You don't even have to steer out of the planet. It seems to automatically do so if you use the code. Stage Select This is a fairly unique way to select the stage. I can't say I've seen it in many games. The very last button in the code sequence will determine your starting point. Here's how to do it. Bypass the intro with Start, then press: L, U, R, D, U, R, L, D, then one of the following to determine where you start: Stage 2: Up Stage 3: Left Stage 4: Down Stage 5: Right Stage 6: Select Stage 7: B. After modifying the code to start you at the desired stage, press Start to begin the game. If you do it correctly you will start on the stage you selected. Review of Abadox There's only one other game I know of that shares this storyline, and that's life Force. Well, it doesn't really share the storyline. It shares environments. Both games have you flying into the body of an alien to destroy it. Also, Abadox's music has a Life Forceish feel to it that is very fitting to the environment. To name a few in particular, well, all the stage musics had a somewhat Life Forceish sound to them, but the ending theme reminded me most of Life Force, because it's got a very similar rhythm to it. The SFX in Abadox also sound similar to those heard in Life Force, but in my experience a lot of NES space shooters have similar sound, some exceptions of course being Fantasy Zone and P'radikus Conflict. The control is very good. See the controls section. The story is akin to that of Life Force in that in both games you destroy the evil from within, but Abadox thankfully doesn't feature that endless loop Life Force did. Life Force had a final boss that had two parts, and unless you were sure to destroy them both you could never beat the game. Other than that though, these games are almost twins. In Closing Once again, if there's anything you think I ought to know, feel free to drop me a line. I'll try to answer your questions as best I can. The names of the enemies and the rest of the bosses would also be appreciated. Enjoy!
