Castle of Illusion starring Mickey Mouse

Castle of Illusion was in the second batch of titles released for the Genesis and was the most popular platformer on the system prior to the release of Sonic the Hedgehog.

The game is a side scrolling platformer in which the player controls Mickey, as he tries to save Minnie from the witch Mizrabel, who is attempting to regain her youth.

Upon entering the witch's castle, Mickey finds many doors that leads to other worlds. Each world features a boss which contains a gem. When Mickey obtains all 7 gems, he can travel to the top of the castle to face Mizrabel.

Levels include: Forest, Toyland, Dark Forest, Library/River, and Dark Castle. Each contains 2-3 stages and a boss fight.

Mickey can jump on enemies to defeat them, or collect apples and marbles to throw.

A sequel entitled Land of Illusion was developed for the Sega Master System, but never released in North America. The next sequel, "World of Illusion Staring Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck", was also released for the Genesis.

One of the best platformers for the system after Sonic. World of Illusion was good too, but I haven't played Legend of Illusion of Land of Illusion on Game Gear. Excited for the new 3DS Epic Mickey that's inspired by this.
