Yoshi's Cookie is a puzzle game released by Nintendo for the SNES. Based on Nintendo's NES version, the SNES version was created by Bulletproof Software and featured a graphical update.
The player controls Mario, and the game features single or two player modes.
The game board is a grid of different types of cookies. The player can move any row left or right one space, or any column up or down one space. In doing so, the player must create full rows or columns made up of the same type of cookie, at which time the row or column will disappear. The goal of each stage is to clear the board of all cookies.
Each row also has a counter of how many cookies you've placed; when the counter fills up, a Yoshi is added to the row. Yoshis and Koopa shells are added to the later levels of game and make the puzzles more difficult.
The game features three game modes.
The VS mode is a two player mode.
The action mode is the same as the NES or Gameboy version and has 198 levels labeled 01-10 to 99-10 (increments 01-01, 01-02...01-10, 02-01...09-10, 10-10, 11-10...99-10). Each stage must be cleared in a certain number of moves.
The adventure mode contains a world map of 10 worlds, each with 10 levels. This mode allows the player to move through the world solving puzzles and is exclusive to the SNES version.
The SNES version used sprites from Super Mario World, except that Yoshi was redesigned to look more like the version of Yoshi in Yoshi's Island.
