1943: The Battle of Midway (NES)

1943: The Battle of Midway is the second game in Capcom's 1940's World War 2 vertical shooter series.

The game has players controlling an America P-38. The goal is to take out the Japanese air and sea forces.

As the player flies through the levels dodging and defeating enemy airplanes there are weapon power-ups that can be collected.

The game is played with only one life, but the P-38 has damage bar that can be refilled by collecting energy power-ups.

Power-ups are dropped when you defeat an entire squadron of red planes and can restore health, or temporarily replace your weapon.

The P-38 can also perform special maneuvers and attacks. The loop/dodging mechanic is back from the previous game, and several new attacks which take energy to use are available.

The games features 16 levels, the first set involve flying over seas, while the final 5 are air battles.

RGG Says: Better than 1942, adds plane upgrades and a password systems.
