In this game, the player controls a cannon on one side of a hill or mountain. Each mountain has a different height and shape. The goal is to set the cannon’s angle and power to the right settings in order to hit a cannon on the opposing mountain or hillside.
Artillery Duel switches to a new mountain after each turn, so the player does not get to re-adjust after a miss. When the player does manage to hit the opposing cannon, marching soldiers are shown at the bottom of the screen.
Artillery Duel was featured in several double-ender configurations (bundled with games like Ghost Manor, Spike's Peak, and Chuck Norris Superkicks), as well as in a single cartridge.
